A Genius artist needs Genius critic, it's a tragedy

Fyodor Dostoevsky needed Mikhail Bakhtin for the full understanding by the readers of his creative genius. But, he as an artist couldn't live long enough to see Bakhtin's work about his creation.

The same thing can be said about Akira Kurosawa and Sergei Paradzhanov.

The best critical works and academic study about Kurosawa's "life-work"("Ran") and its great "rehearsal"film("Kagemusha")  were written by me, but he died not knowing about them.

Because I was in Moscow in the late 90s and Kurosawa was already a "Maestro", with  whom a young researcher like me couldn't easily have a close relationship. In addition, I was mainly in Moscow that time....

These works must be more widely known, I think.
Because those who could have written about the aesthetic principle of these works, for example,  a critic Nagaharu Yodogawa has been dead for more than 10 years and the situation of Japanese film culture has become worse for these 10-15 years. No one can write, or precisely analyze the structure and dramaturgy of "Kagemusha" and "Ran".
In fact, during late 90-s and in the 2000s, my academic work written in Russian "The Form of Time and the Image of Time: About two films of Akira Kurosawa", published in the Russian academic journal "Kinovedcheskie zapiski"has been a hit among Russian cinephils.

The best critical work about Sergei Paradzhanov's life and films is, in my opinion, Levon Gregoryan's "Paradzhanov"published in 2011, 21 years after the death.

How these film directors had struggled for a long time to achieve the rare cinematographic beauty, very few people know. And many lovers of "art house" films only can "consume" the beauty of their works....

I think it's  a tragedy of our time.

My new English book (novel) on kindle

As I previously wrote here about this novel., "RE-Minder" was originally written as a scenario for a short film, probably no later than Summer of 2003. My intention was to show, in the genre of Sci-Fi and at the same time in my own style with my worldview, some keen social and cultural problems which intellectual and/or creative youth must have been faced with.

The novel has 3 chapters; Re-MIND(mainly based on the original short), GAME and RITUAL.
This image-clop shows mainly the atmosphere of 1-st Chapter, but partly cities text from Chapter 2 and 3, where the story develops around the first online virtual reality game and the first A.I.with self-consciousness, which is caused by a sad accident.

New Kindle books and cine-poems based on them

This is a sort of Cine-poem based on a roman I've just published as Kindle e-Book.
It's a biographic and at the same time historical roman, depicting so-called "Abramtsevo circle". The center of the roman is the tragic life of M.A.Vrubel after Kiev period.
I don't know if I was right to have written it in Japanese, but I think such a delicate material can't be written in other languages than author's mother tongue.

And here is the another Cine-poem also based on my literary work, named "Re-Minder". Initially it was a short story for an omnibus film, but as the plan didn't realize, I developed the idea into the length of a feature film and at then make it into a novel. I don't know to what genre it belongs, most likely a kind of near future Sci-fi with artificial intelligence, virtual reality and on-line combat game played with global scale.
In fact it deals with a problem of cultural degradation in the technology-centered globalized society without spiritual values. In such a society a young old-fashioned artist, of course, can't live. Namely it deals with our reality.
The heroine Lisa is a science journalist with cool atmosphere, but she has something spiritual in her, the sense of the harmony ruling the Universe.
There are also comical group portraits of people living in near-future Japan, partly becauuse that the scenario for a feature film which was the bases of the novel, was written in 2003 when the economic recession  was not so seriously felt and we had no fear for radiation, as today.

This time I revised only a few details of it. The main plot of this story had always been mythological, so it's not the author's caprice to include Max Klinger's works whose name is mentioned by young graphic artist Ryu Tujimura.
The kindle version is in Japanese, as "Demon defeated" about M.Vrubel.
